What is sisterhood?

Sisterhood is big part of what we do as members of Sigma Phi Lambda. What is sisterhood? It is the bond we share through the love of Jesus Christ. Why is it important? Sisterhood means ladies of Christ looking out for each other, life throws everyone difficulties but that doesn't mean we have to face them alone. As women of Christ it is our duty to look out for our fellow sisters in Christ.

 

Sisterhood is very important to Sigma Phi Lambda especially to the Alpha Iota chapter. In order to grow closer as sisters in Christ we started the  Sisterhood of the Traveling Devotional this is a devotional book that members of the Alpha Iota chapter pass around so that members  may share testimony their own unique way. This is a new tradition unique to the Alpha Iota chapter and was created to strengthen our bond as sisters and so that all members may participate in worship of God by personal testimony despite fears of public speaking or performing. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Devotional was created by Holly Roomsburg for the use of the members of Sigma Phi Lambda how ever anyone is open to start one among friends.  Below is the first page of the devotional:  

 

The Sister Hood of the Traveling Devotional

 

The purpose of this book is to Glorify God and make his name great through the beautiful and unique thoughts and expressions of the sisters who help create this book. This devotional will help us as sisters in Christ to support each other and grow as we walk on our own spiritual journey.

 

Rules of the traveling devotional:

• God is first. This is for the glory of God there fore we must remember that in the creation of all entries, let every expression reflect his ways.

• Love your neighbor as your self, this is not a “burn” book where we put people down, this was not made for gossip, so talking negatively about any one especially your self is forbidden.

• Any and all forms of expression ( ex writing, songs, drawing, gluing pictures in ,etc..) is encouraged do not let the word devotional limit the type of entry or style of writing as long as it Glorifies God its fair game.

• Sisters must pass the book along and not allowed to hold the book past their allotted time. However in that time they may fill as many pages as they wish.

• Creativity is not encourage its required.

• No sister my refer to herself (or others) as fat unless it is in the PH form phat.

• No glitter shall touch this book failure to adhere will result in a new book and glitter being applied to the violators face, car and or purse.

• No pages are to be ripped out if mistakes are made they should be crossed out or have another page pasted over it.

• Picking your nose while using the book is not allowed You may, however, scratch casually at your nostril while really kind of picking haha jk that doesn’t matter just avoid getting food stuff or snot on/in the book.
